Tractor Birthday Boy

Lukas had his birthday party on Saturday, a few days before his actual birthday. We did a farm theme so we focus on tractors, of course. I made little John Deere favor boxes for the kids, painted a few signs for the decorations. For the food we did pig slop (sloppy joes), chicken feed (chex mix), hay (pretzels), and a veggie garden. For the games I divided them up by areas found on the farm. So for the cow pasture the kids did cow bowling, for the pig pen they herded the pigs (pink balloons) back into the pen using fly swatters, and for the chicken coop they went looking for eggs. I hide eggs all around with little toys inside.

The kids also got to go on a "tractor" ride. My awesome brother borrowed this train thing that the city. The kids had so much fun! It was freezing cold outside but they wanted to keep riding around. They even went on a ride after the party was over, I swear it was below zero by then, but they had so much fun!

Lukas loved his tractor cake. He wasn't too sure about the candles, but he loved eating it!

Joel and I found this cute tractor cut out for a photo op, we thought it would be a cute keepsake for all the kids.
Since Lukas' birthday is so close to Christmas and all his toys were still so new, Joel and I decided to get tractor stuff for Lukas' bedroom. Needless to say he LOVES his tractor room!

I just wanted to post a few things about Lukas at this stage in life.
*Obviously his love in life right now is tractors. He talks about tractors all day, plays with his tractors all day, he even takes a few tractors to the breakfast, lunch and dinner table every day. *He loves people. He is not afraid of anyone. He will strike up a conversation with anyone and everyone that will stop and talk with him.
*He loves fruit of all kind, not a big veggie eater, but we still try everyday. I have started pureeing veggies and sneaking it into his food :)
*He enjoys football. He cheers for both teams by saying YES anytime he hears cheering and he knows when someone makes a touchdown. He puts his arms up and yells TOUCHDOWN! Of course mom and dad both think this is great.
*He loves ELMO and CARS the movie. I think we have worn out our CARS DVD, it gets used quite a bit.
*He has already turned into a little wise guy. One night he was throwing his food off his tray and got put in time out. While I was bent over cleaning up his mess he snuck up and de pants me and ran back into time out. I really wanted to bust a gut, but I was trying to hard to be the tough mom! When you try to get mad at him he either tries to distract you or gives you a hug and kiss. We are in trouble with this guy!
*Most of all he is just a fun kid to be around. I love the fact that I get to be his mom!
